Ofsted Success Across WMAT Schools

Following the recent inspections of Hall Green and Kings Norton Girls’ Schools, all three schools within West Midlands Academy Trust have now undergone Ofsted inspections over the past year, with each school receiving highly positive feedback.

Kings Norton Girls’ School (KNGS) was confirmed to have taken effective action following the ‘Outstanding’ 2019 report and was commended for maintaining its high standards, and that the same high standards as in the rest of the school are present across the sixth form. Inspectors observed that “pupils thrive at this school.” Ofsted further recognised that KNGS takes great care to ensure pupils are supported to achieve their potential.”

Nicola Raggett, Chief Executive Officer of West Midlands Academy Trust (WMAT) and Headteacher of KNGS, said: “The positive comments in the report are a fantastic reflection of the continuing hard work and commitment of all our staff and students across our school and Sixth Form. We are extremely proud of our ongoing outstanding achievements.”

Ofsted recognised that Hall Green School “sets high expectations for pupils to do well” and that “pupils enjoy their learning and feel safe.” The school’s commitment to inclusivity and enrichment was also noted, with inspectors highlighting that “the curriculum is tailored to reflect the diverse backgrounds and faiths of pupils.”

Karen Slater, Headteacher at Hall Green School, said: “We are very happy with the findings and feel that the inspection team has accurately assessed both our strengths and areas for development. The inspection report highlights the dedication and efforts of our staff and pupils in delivering exceptional educational opportunities.”

These inspections follow the inspection of Swanshurst School in May 2024, where Ofsted continued to recognise it as an ‘Outstanding’ school. The strong academic performance, inclusive culture, exemplary curriculum, and student leadership were all areas highlighted by Ofsted, which contribute to the school being “an exceptional place for pupils to learn.”

The success of all three schools reflects the strength of WMAT’s vision of ‘Achieving more together.’ Through a relentless focus on delivering an excellent quality of education, pupils benefit from strong progress and attainment.

Recent trust-wide initiatives, such as the Student Leadership, Governance, and Virtual Staff Collaboration Events, have reinforced the collective approach of WMAT which will continue as the Trust continues to strive towards creating a brighter future for every student.
